Nicole Flack is a photographer based in New York City who gathered friends and other artists for an end-of-summer celebration featuring her latest project 'Endless Summer.'
Friends and other artists gathered for the end-of-summer celebration. There was a custom summer playlist, a spread of fresh local organic farmer's market produce, and mocktails from Aplos in Calm and Arise, offering guests a mindful moment to check in with themselves and determine whether something soothing or uplifting would be most supportive for their evening.Â
Photography, for Nicole, has always been more than just a medium of visual expression. It is a tool, a conduit through which she seeks to capture transcendent moments of harmony and joy. Her work invites others to pause and notice the stunning beauty that surrounds them, urging them to recognize the infinite possibilities that our minds can explore at any given moment.
Her latest project, "Endless Summer," is a manifestation of this vision—a celebration of the goodness inherent in all of us. Through her lens, she seeks to witness the joy in others and amplify it, creating a visual narrative that resonates with positivity and light. This project is more than just a collection of images; it is an attempt to translate her deep studies in meditation into a visual form that others can connect with.
In discussing her inspiration, she reflects on the universal experience of joy and peace—those moments when life feels expansive and light, when music seems sweeter, and flowers more fragrant and meaningful. She notes that it is easy to attribute these feelings to external factors, like falling in love or taking a trip to Italy. However, she believes that this joy and peace actually originate within us, stemming from our own minds.
Her work in "Endless Summer" is a visual meditation, a reminder that there are practices to cultivate a mind that is as clear and bright as the summertime sun, and as expansive and calm as the vast sea. Through meditation, she suggests, we can develop a mind that delights in the joy of others and is always inclined to help whenever possible. This state of mind, she believes, is not fleeting—it remains with us long after the earth tilts away from the sun.
In every photograph she takes, she aims to convey this philosophy. "Endless Summer" is more than just a project; it is her way of sharing with the world the beauty of a calm and bright mind, one that finds joy in others and in every moment of life. Through her work, she hopes to inspire others to see the world with the same clarity and compassion, reminding us all that the joy we seek is already within us, waiting to be cultivated and shared.
As a photographer, she finds something special in the reflection process of understanding what a body of work is about. She contemplates what she was noticing and thinking about during the creation, and through that process, she curates down to the essential, giving those images the high value of print.
For the guests, the large-scale prints were a highlight. They felt as though they were stepping into another world, experiencing the evening through her eyes and seeing the immense beauty she perceives in the world. The prints served as a portal for deep connection, allowing them to engage with her vision and the world she captures.
The framed canvas prints from ProDPI are her favorite products. She finds them stunning, exceptionally well-made, and appreciates the great company with incredible people behind them.
