Christian has been creating art ever since he was a child. Growing up, he would doodle on pieces of paper from his dad’s office. His passion grew as he took more art classes in school and progressed his skills. A few years ago he began learning Procreate, which transformed the way he created. The ease of use and ability to iterate on an iPad allowed him to begin practicing art almost daily.
Funnily enough, Christian has never been to the desert, but that doesn’t mean he isn’t inspired by it. In fact, his art primarily focuses on exploring desert terrain, animals, plants, and insects. He named his art-focused Instagram account "Color the Desert" after his primary inspiration.
Although Christian hasn't seen the desert in person, he feels its influence in his work as his creative process allows him to be more imaginative. It's a little bit of wanderlust.
One of the reasons he created Color the Desert was to keep himself motivated and consistent. The account has inspired him to post and document his work, which makes him feel more motivated and driven to keep going. He enjoys being able to reflect on how his art has transformed over time and connect with fellow artists.
Christian believes there's a significant difference between looking at artwork on a screen and experiencing it in person. He firmly believes that having his artwork printed holds immense value because it allows him to witness the final product in the physical realm. Viewing his work in print form offers a unique perspective compared to the digital screen, enabling him to appreciate the intricate details and vibrant colors.
When Christian embarked on the journey of printing his artwork and bringing it to life, he started with modest beginnings. He opted for our 5×5 Giclée Fine Art Prints, which he thoroughly enjoyed sharing with friends. Writing personalized messages on the back of the prints for others added an extra special touch.
Christian's artistic aspirations didn't stop there. He felt the urge to elevate his creations even further. Realizing the transformative impact that framing could have on his pieces, he decided to take the leap. He believed that framing his artwork would add a whole new dimension and elevate its overall presentation.
When Christian frames his artwork, he finds it adds significant impact by drawing the viewer's eye toward the center of the piece. As he gained confidence, he opted to frame his work in partnership with ProDPI to ensure top-notch quality and professional finishing. He shared that achieving a visually appealing display in his home doesn't necessarily require spending a fortune; it's possible to find reasonably priced options that look great.
Christian shares that it's challenging to grow as an artist because you want to strive for perfection, but the output will never be perfect - and that's okay! You'll eventually become more comfortable with your creative process and workflow, and it gets a little bit easier each time you practice.
Christian believes that consistency is key. Without it, you fall out of line with your work which can cause frustration, and ultimately, you end up walking away from your craft. Like any other habit, his advice is to prioritize practicing until your creative process becomes like second nature.
